Bowen Kerins, Al Cuoco, Glenn Stevens, Mary Pilgrim, Ben Sinwell, and Darryl Yong have developed a series of books for teachers, educators, and mathematicians, based on the mathematics course that we’ve taught at the IAS/Park City Mathematics Institute.

These books aren’t “courses” in the traditional sense. They are carefully sequenced collection of problem sets designed to develop several interconnected mathematical themes. These materials provide participants with the opportunity for authentic mathematical discovery—participants build mathematical structures by investigating patterns, use reasoning to test and formalize their ideas, offer and negotiate mathematical definitions, and apply their theories and mathematical machinery to solve problems. They can be enjoyed by mathematics educators, professional developers, teachers, and high school students alike.
